On Wednesday and Thursday mornings at about 8:00 am CFD Volunteers got an early start to their day responding to a motor vehicle accident each day.

On Wednesday, firefighters were dispatched to an MVA on County Route 48, east of Cox Lane. Southold Town Police were on the scene of an accident that occurred on the rain slicked roads and requested EMS for one minor injury. CFD units arrived on scene to package and transport one patient to Eastern Long Island Hospital. Units cleared the scene 30 minutes.

On Thursday, CFD was dispatched to another vehicle accident, this time on Skunk Lane near Pine Tree Road when a vehicle struck a utility pole. Units found a single car accident that left the road and struck a utility pole causing the pole to break. One patient was removed from the car and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center. Firefighters detoured traffic and secured the vehicle while Southold Town Police stood by waiting for the roadway to be cleared by LIPA.

The roadway and power to the Nassau Point Road area was shut down for a period of time throughout the morning until the pole could be fixed.
