| On Wednesday March 30th the Cutchogue Fire Department Junior Firefighters gathered at the Firehouse for their monthly training session. Each month the juniors participate in a different training session in order to familiarize them with the Fire and EMS services.
The topic of this month's training was wall breaching. With the assistance of the advisors each junor had the oppurtunity to break through sheetrock wall on the Department's wall simulator and climb through the openeing they created. The Juniors were also explained under what circumstances firefighters might need to use this skill.
The drill gave the juniors the chance to use the tools that firefighters would use in these situations such as an axe and haligan.
The CFD Juniors would like to thank all of the firefighters who took the time to work with them.
The CFD Junior Firefighter program is open to any residents of the Cutchogue Fire District between the ages of 11 and 17. The juniors routinely meet twice a month on the 2nd and last Wednesdays of each month. |
