| On Sunday afternoon, just as members were finishing an EMS alarm, the Cutchogue Fire Department was activated by Southold Town Police at 1:00 pm to respond to a Water Rescue located in the Peconic Bay off of the shore of New Suffolk.
Two boaters in a 16 foot aluminum boat were stranded and adrift after their engine had mechanical difficulties and needed assistance.
Without power, and because of high winds, the boaters were drifting uncontrolled towards the Nassau Point area.
CFD's rescue boat 8-5-10A, was launched and quickly responded to the area and located the disabled boat approximately 1 mile off shore.
CFD firefighters were able to tow the boaters safely to back shore to the New Suffolk boat ramp.
No injuries were reported and the incident lasted 45 minutes. |
