| On Monday January 31st, CFD firefighters participated in part II of the Sufolk County Fire Academy's elevator rescue course.
In recent years several elevators have been constructed within the Cutchogue Fire District including the local school, library, and several private residences. This training was designed to familiarize firefighters with the proper and safe procedures to safely rescue trapped occupants from an elevator emergency.
Part 1 consisted of a classroom session held last Monday at the Cutchogue Firehouse. The course concluded this week with a hands-on session where firefighters were able to practice on an actual elevator utilizing the elevator located at the firehouse.
20 CFD firefighters who were joined by several others from area Fire Departments completed the course.
