| On Saturday afternoon Cutchogue Fire Department along with firefighters representing nearly 40 other fire departments from Nassau County, Suffolk County participated in the Greenport Fire Department's annual George Washington's Birthday Parade.
Regardless of the weather, this annual parade has been held every February for the past 167 years, as firemen march proudly through the streets of Greenport.
With the day's temperatures in the 40's, CFD firefighters were joined by the CFD Ladies Auxiliary and the CFD Junior Firefighters as they took to the streets marching to the melodies of the CFD Marching Band.
Following the parade, all the participants gathered for the awards at the Greenport Firehouse. Parade particpants were treated to refreshments and homemade clam chowder made by the Greenport FD.
CFD was awarded 3 first place trophies for the, Best Appearing Band, Best Appearing Ladies Auxilliary and Best Appearing Juniors.
Thank you to the CFD Fire Police squad, who along with other North Fork Fire Departments provided Fire Police units to assist with traffic control throughout the parade route so that the Greenport members could participate in their hometown parade.
Thank you to everyone who turned out for the Day.
