| Over the past two weeks Eastern Long Island has been subjected to several winter storms and freezing temperatures. Today several members of CFD along with firefighters from area Fire Departments took advantage of the recent cold weather, and participated in Part II of an Ice Rescue class hosted by the Southold Fire Department.
The Class taught by instructors from the Suffolk County Fire Academy consisted of two parts. The first part consisted of a three hour classroom session that was held on Thursday evening, and the second part which was completed today.
Today, firefighters headed to the ice to practice the different skills and rescue techniques that were taught in the classroom. Firefighters participated in several different evolutions and rescue scenarios over the course of three hours.
The members of CFD would like to thank the Southold FD for hosting this worthwhile class.
Congratulations to the following members for completing the course.
