For the second evening in a row, the Cutchogue Fire Department was dispatched for mutual Aid to assist one of our neighboring Departments at a the scene of a working structure fire.

On Thursday evening around 10:00 p.m. the Southold Fire Department was dispatched for a reported structure fire on Hortons Lane, near Route 25.

The blaze which was engulfing the front porch of the home was discovered by a passing Southold Town Police Officer who immediately radioed in the call.

Southold FD arrived on scene and went to work fighting the blaze that was quickly consuming the front of the home.

2 occupants of the home who were unaware that their home was on fire were rescued / evacuated from the home by a police officer prior to the FD arrival.

Both the Cutchogue Fire Department and Greenport Fire Departments were requested as Mutual Aid. CFD provided a Rapid Intervention Team at the scene while Greenport FD assisted as well with an engine.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire in the circa 1900s home to the front porch, the exterior siding and front room.
