Over the past couple of months construction of our new firehouse has continued with the site preparation, drainage and concrete foundations being completed.
With all of those tasks being completed, Thursday marked an important milestone for the project as the first piece of structural steel was installed in what is to become the southeast corner of the building.
On Saturday July 20th members of CFD participated in the Dylan Newman Forever 5 charity softball tournament.
CFD was among 7 teams that competed in the weekend tournament held at Southold Town's Cochran Park in Peconic.
The tournament raises funds for the foundation that provides scholarships to our local schools and gives back to the community in Dylan Newmans memory.
On Wednesday, July 17th the officers and members of the Cutchogue Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary participated in the annual Jamesport Fire Department carnival parade
Over 25 of CFD's members particpated in this years parade along with the Department band, Ladies Auxiliary.
The parade included fire departments and civic groups from across the area.
At 8:15 a.m.. on Wednesday Morning, CFD was dispatched for a reported gas leak at a residence in the area of 7650 Nassau Point Rd. in Cutchogue
Upon arrival the CFD Chiefs discovered a ruptured propane tank servicing a home that was under construction. Contractors using heavy equipment ran over the tanks cover severing the gas line causing Propane (LPG) to leak uncontrollably into the air.
This week a summer heat wave has been forcasted to effect the Long island region and much of the Northeast Region of the United States. Locally temperatures are expected to reach the mid nineties throughout the weekend with high humidity.
The Cutchogue Fire Department would like to offer these safety tips to help the community prepare for battling the heat.
