On Saturday morning April 10h, CFD Firefighters began the testing of the nearly 60 fire wells throughout the Cutchogue Fire District.

Twice a year, each fire well is tested by our Volunteers to ensure that each well is capable of providing a water supply to protect the homes in the community in the event of a fire.

Forcilbe Entry Training

On Thursday March 25th, 5 members of CFD joined together with members of the Greenport Fire Department to travel to the Suffolk County Fire Academy to participate in forcible entry training.

The night at the academy began with a short lecture followed with a series of hand-on drills.

The Training Continues - Monthly Training Night Focuses on Ladders

Our regular monthly training schedule continued last night, focusing on ground ladders and firefighter / victim drags.

Firefighters practiced and reviewed the safe use of ground ladders on the fire ground, as well as performed some practical skills. On Monday Morning at approximately 8:00 am volunteers were alerted to respond to a reported structure fire on Alvah's lane in Cutchogue.

The owner of the home dialed 911 when she noticed smoke coming from the rear of her home and found a portion of the house burning..
